The providing permits scheme for bribe by the management of Ukraine National Accreditation Agency has been revealed

On Saturday, January 16, the first deputy director and adviser to the Director of Ukraine National Accreditation Agency were informed by the investigators of the State Bureau Investigation Territorial Department (DBR) in Kyiv about the suspicion of a crime. On the eve of these officials were detained under Art. 208 of Ukraine Criminal Procedure Code during the permits  issuance  for bribery. The asking price was $ 2.5 thousand.

According to a report on the DBR website, DBR operatives found that the management of Ukraine National Accreditation Agency had introduced a corruption mechanism in the field of issuing permits. The pre-trial investigation documented the fact that the first deputy head of the National Agency demanded an illegal benefit in the amount of $ 2,500 from a representative of a commercial structure in the transportation field. In order to receive a bribe, the head hired an advisor to the National Agency Director as an intermediary.

According to Ukraine Prosecutor General’s Office, it was established that the officials demanded from the representative of the transport agency $ 2,500 in illegal benefits for a positive decision on the issuance of a company  accreditation certificate .

Previously, their actions fall under Part 3 Criminal Code Art 368, the sanctions which provide for imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years.

“The detection of illegal activities was carried out with the operational support of the Main Operational Department DBR under the procedural guidance of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office,” the DBR website said.
