The witness: «Why don’t you like Russians?», – they asked and blew up the house

Residents of Andriyivka, Kyiv region, told how they lived for a month under the occupation of the  Russian army and how Russian soldiers blew up residential buildings in memory of themselves. Here,  too, there were facts of torture and killing of civilians.

«We stayed here until March 9, 2022. They fired. Our house caught fire for the first time on March 7  (from a projectile – Editorial). Then the arrival was at the porch. And then we were gone, our neighbors  remained. They said that the soldiers had brought hailstones into the basement of the house. Russian  soldiers. They came to us drunk in the cellars (where local residents hid from shelling – Editorial), they  came with assault rifles and asked:«Why don’t you like Russia so much?», – told us a  young resident of Andriivka.

When their house caught fire for the first time, there was nothing to extinguish the fire. That is why the  villagers alone extinguished the fire with sand and earth. And then the girl shows what is left of their  concrete porch, which was hit by a shell, and of the house.

«We had a concrete porch here. And then they took shells into the basement of the house and blew up  our house. I don’t know why they did that. And this is the house of our neighbor – aunt Olya. There  was… But it caught fire from our burning house. It also flew into the garden – there is a big hole. We have  already started cleaning here, but there is a lot of broken glass», – the girl said.

The temperature of the fire after Russian soldiers blew up the residential building was so high that we  saw glass jars melting under our feet.

Another resident of the village said that, most likely, this is how Russian soldiers disposed of shells.

«They had nothing to take away. Ours (Armed Forces of Ukraine – Editorial Board) then they can take a  shit. Their equipment went into decline. They had to use something to evacuate themselves, and not load  shells», – said the girl’s aunt. She spent the entire occupation in Andriivka.

The resident of the village does not know the answer to the journalist’s question, why it was not  possible to detonate shells in a clear field, which is several hundred meters from the street with houses.

«Maybe because of anger. They were half-starved and half-cold here. They are always offended by their  state. Half- starved, they sat at home, and when they arrived here, they saw that everyone had brick houses. They were shocked that we don’t live in wooden barracks, that we don’t take our filth outside, that we have any sewers», – the woman says.

Her relative adds:

«It was strange for them that we have cleanliness and order. How can this be?! Why are our  windows painted?! Why are our houses whitewashed?!».

«Why do we have gas piped to old small houses?», – the woman continues.

She told how Russian soldiers were surprised to learn that the family’s car runs on gas:

«Uncle Vadik, give me gas!»

«But I don’t have gasoline, my car runs on gas»

«How is that?»

«Here, Uncle Vadik opens the hood, here is a gas reducer, here is a gas cylinder for you»

«Hmm, it’s strange. I’ve seen this for the first time in my life»…

The woman said that she was in the village during the entire occupation. Russian soldiers came for her  husband once, but very quickly the husband stopped being interested in them, and the main question  remained – where to get horilka.

«Once they came for a man at night with the words: «Where’s your observer» (observer of fire for aiming at the target – Redaction).

I answered them: «What observer? He studied hard, what an observer he is!».

And the husband went to sleep in the neighboring part of the house. Went to rest. There were still whole  windows, because there are plastic ones, and our wooden ones were gone.

They said to me: «Show me where your observer is».

I say: «He is sleeping. Go, I’ll show you».

She went and showed. And cursed – he did not understand that I did not come alone.

They ask: «Do you always have him like this?», and then «Aunt, give me some horilka».

I say: «We don’t have horilka».

«Give me some alcohol».

I say: «Ukrainians, if there is alcohol, we make tinctures and treat with 30 drops».

«Give me the tincture, I’ll give you 1,000 rubles, give me the tincture».
