A positive vote in Sumy City Council costs $30,000

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine announced about appearance of a new accused in the case of bribery of deputies of the Sumy City Council of the VII convocation. 

The website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reported that under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office a private entrepreneur was reported on providing suspicion an illegal benefit (Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

“According to the investigation, the entrepreneur, acting with prior agreement with another private enterprises owner, handed over 30 thousand US dollars to the Sumy City Council deputies of the VII convocation in September 2020 for a positive vote at the regular session for granting permits activity of land plots in Sumy. His accomplice was suspicion notified on December 30, 2020. The pre-trial investigation is underway, the issue of bringing other criminal proceedings participants to justice is being resolved,” – the statement reads.

The illegal activity of the person was exposed by the investigative department of the Main Department Sumy State Tax Service region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office.
