As a result of the war, residents of many regions of Ukraine have been left without homes. Their tragic stories are different, but they all have one thing in common - the Russian Federation's occupying forces are not interested in keeping Ukrainians in their homes, in their cities and villages.

Witness: How Russians organized carpet bombing in a village in Chernihiv region (Video).

As of mid-2022, about 3,500 buildings in the Chernihiv region were destroyed or damaged as a result of hostilities. 80% of them were residential, said Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.

Witness: a resident of Buchi was shot for speaking and his family’s three houses were blown up.

These three burned-out houses stand in Bucha at the corner of Vokzalna Street, where a column of Russian military equipment was hit in the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and Yablonska Street, where 36 civilians were killed during the month of Russian occupation.

Witness: Shooting by Russian soldiers of an evacuation convoy with children from Makarov.

A resident of Makarov, Kyiv Oblast, told how she and her family were leaving the city captured by Russian soldiers. The Russian command allowed them to leave, giving them a so-called «green corridor». However, as soon as the evacuation column of civilians came across Russian military equipment, they opened fire on people.
