Witness: resident of Andriivka tells how Kadyrov’s men took her and her husband to be executed (Video)

The village of Andriivka, Kyiv region, has experienced not only large-scale destruction of the residential sector – the street leading to Kyiv has not a single surviving building. Russian soldiers killed at least 17 civilians here. A couple told about the shooting of two villagers.

«They were checked… (mobile phones — Editors). They were looking for information about the number of tanks and coordinates», — the man added.

«Their mobile phones were checked and they were shot anyway?», — the journalist clarified.

«Yes. They found some information. At least, that’s what they say. They found some information, but we don’t know what it is», — the woman said.

«It turns out that two men were simply shot…», — the journalist adds.

«They were shot. They took them out and shot them», — the woman says.

«There’s a house over there, they hid them behind a transformer. They put a bag on my head. They mocked me», — adds her husband.

«What is true is true. All the neighbours will tell you this», — the woman says.

«Were you also taken away (by Russian soldiers – Ed.)?», — the journalist asks.

«They took us out from here. We were standing here by the lilacs. Thanks to that commander. We were taken out by Chechens. Thanks to their commander, he gave the command “Stop”. Our phones were already lying on the ground after being shot. Tanks were rolling over them, “ironing” them. And the commander said in Russian: “Go into the yard”. We went there. And he said that it would all be over in five days, that no one was to blame. “Your Zelensky and our Putin can’t solve anything.” He said not to go anywhere. They broke the glass on the car near the driver and told us not to go anywhere. We replied that we would not go anywhere, because there was nowhere to go – there were tanks (Russian – Ed.) all around. We had nowhere to go», — the woman recalls.

«We were standing here. There are about 50 people around us. And we don’t know what to do», — the man adds.

«There was a house over there. My grandmother was killed there. They had a car there that picked up signals. And they were hiding there. There was a house there. They were making trenches there», — the villager continues.

«We picked up signals and jammed them. We were catching all the information. We were able to figure it out quickly. Where, who was calling and where», — the man adds.

«And they flew straight to the place where the caller was», — says the woman.

The couple showed us their house, which had miraculously survived despite rockets falling from different sides. The building is in a state of disrepair. Under other circumstances, it would be impossible to live there, but they had nowhere else to go, and in the first months after the de-occupation, they stayed in the house, restored order, and patched holes in the roof and walls.

«They (Russian soldiers – Ed.) were staying with us. They were in our yards. They were hiding behind us. Our barn was also shot up. The roof of the cellar where we were hiding was smashed», — the woman says.

«Did they live in your house?», — the journalist asked.

«Yes, they did».

«And then there was an arrival. A bomb. We’re raking everything up now, we can’t clean it up», — the man says.

«The fridge is all pierced…», — the journalist comments.

«And all the furniture was like that. I’ve already taken it out. I threw the sofas away yesterday. I threw everything away. There were no windows, everything was flying in», — the couple said.

«Grads were flying from the farm to here, and from there to there. They managed to get us in the crossfire. Everything here is smashed. Our house is in a state of disrepair», — says the owner.

«Look at the panels. They are falling down… We have no electricity, no gas, nothing. There is no water», — says her husband.

«The fire was close by. The house was burning there, we buried that grandmother on 7 March – her heart stopped from all this. There were tanks in her house. Come, I’ll show you. I’ll show you where she was buried. We buried her, and this is her reburial. There were shells in every yard. My husband will show you a Grad shell later. We buried her here in the trench under this pear tree. Because the shells were flying», — the woman recalls.

«Is that her house?», — the journalist asks again.

«That’s what’s left of her house. The whole house is smashed. Her soldiers lived here, and so did we. Andrii’s house is nearby, too».

«Did the soldiers not touch you?», — the journalist asked.

«Well, they did. They didn’t abuse us badly, they didn’t abuse us. But there were some things. And they were shooting – there’s a farm over there, they had Grads (multiple rocket launchers – Ed.) Now we’ll show you a shell, just bend down carefully. This is a Grad», — they show the remains of a shell.

«Is this where it came from?», — the journalist asks.

«Yes, it came here. And there, near the house, and on the road… That’s what we experienced. No windows, no doors. The door that was put in the house flew (during the explosion – Ed.) from the attic right here», — the woman says.

«Did you also have animals?», — the journalist asked.

«Of course we did. They (Russian soldiers – Ed.) killed and ate rabbits. They were purebred. They chopped up chickens and ate them. But that’s it… This is what I found from under the ruins, soaked it and had to wash it. Because there are no dishes, they took away three wheelbarrows of broken dishes. This is the cellar where we were hiding. It saved us all. 11 people – three neighbours and some other neighbours. We were all hiding here. And when we got here, we ran across the street. It was impossible for us to sit here anymore, because everything was flying over us. The car was also shot up. Serhii, pick it up and show me. It’s not expensive, but it’s like a family car to us. It was…», — the woman says.

«And the neighbours made a dump out of the car. And here are the holes – the shells were buried here», — the man adds.

«This is where my grandmother survived – three shells hit her house. Three times. She was in the house. After the third time, her neighbours took her away. She survived. Then they took her to Kyiv… They did so many things to us in a month… There was a tank here, and there were shells above this house. It took three days for the soldiers to remove the shells from there. There were mines here. Anti-tank mines. They were buried and just stood there», — said a resident of Andriivka

Other residents of Andriivka were even more unlucky. Russian soldiers brought their shells to residential buildings and blew them up. Read about it in our material:

In their investigation, the journalists of “Radio Freedom” found out that 17 civilians died during the occupation of Andriyivka, Kyiv region, by the Russian army. People were shot or became victims of bombings. At least two villagers died due to untimely medical care and lack of access to medicines. During the occupation, 70 houses were completely destroyed, the local school suffered significant damage, and the kindergarten was completely razed to the ground.
